Summer Camp at HNS: July 2026

Daily 9a-1p, June 29th through July 31st (5 weeks).

Join our team of teachers and outdoor enthusiasts to bring play-based exploration to children ages 4 to 6. Camp is held in our outdoor classroom rain and shine. Applicants with an affinity to and experience with preschoolers and nature-based programming desired, early childhood degree preferred. A Maine DHHS background check and first-aid and CPR training required. Apply and accept a position before May 1st and we can walk you through the process of gaining these certifications.

Summer Positions Available:

Early Childhood Educator: $20-26/hr, based on experience, with potential for $24-32/hr when committed to position by May 1 and completion of necessary training and paperwork by June 1.

Camp Counselor (Age 18+): $18-24/hr, based on experience, with potential for $21-27/hr when committed to position by May 1 and completion of necessary training and paperwork by June 1.

Camp Assistant (Ages 14-17): A great introduction to camp counselor responsibilities, and springboard to Counselor position once 18. As a team assistant we’ll share our gratitude with a $100 Visa Gift Card for each week of volunteering.

Preschool at HNS: 2026-2027 School Year

Join our team of teachers and outdoor enthusiasts to bring play-based exploration to our school-year programming for children ages 3 to 6. A degree in early childhood education (associates or higher) preferred. Experience with nature-based or Reggio Emilia practices a plus.

Traditional school year work calendar; late August through Mid-June. School vacation weeks off. One week of paid sick time. Co-teacher classroom model. Maximum class size 14. Preference for summer camp teaching positions given to school-year staff. DHHS background check and first-aid and CPR training required.

School Year Positions Available:

Early Childhood Educator: 5 days/26 hours per week, competitive pay, $22-29k/year, based on experience, with $25-33k/yr possible when including teaching during summer camp in July.

Early Childhood Educator: 5 days/32 hours per week, competitive pay, $28-36k/year, based on experience, with $31-40k/yr possible when including teaching during summer camp in July.
